Heating & cooling

Heating and cooling for Yakima Valley homes

Whether you are looking for repairs, maintenance or installation, we have you covered.

Chapter 01

Repairs first, because the furnace never quits on a mild afternoon

The Yakima Valley asks a lot of a house. Cold winters push a furnace hard, hot summers push an air conditioner harder, and the extreme months are exactly when a weak part gives out. Farwest has worked on valley systems since Bob Melton started with one truck in 1982, and the heating and cooling work comes down to five jobs: heat or A/C repairs, HVAC system replacements, ductless mini split installations, duct modifications and indoor air quality.

Repairs start with a service tech. Justin, Payton, Juan and David diagnose the system and offer solutions to meet your budget, and repairs can be financed. When a unit is down in July, that can mean a temporary A/C reaches the house first: one customer wrote that Payton made sure a temporary AC was brought to her parents and that the estimate was very reasonable.

If the same system keeps coming back, the better question is whether it is time to replace it, and a Comfort Advisor can answer that without a sales speech.

Replacements and ductless: a Comfort Advisor walks the house first

Is the system ready to be replaced? Farwest has an experienced team of Comfort Advisors who help you make the best choice for your family. Nate, Comfort Advisor and Install Manager, usually starts that visit, and customers describe him walking them through the options with honesty and clarity. One homeowner replaced a 43 year old furnace and A/C with his quote and his help applying for financing.

Then the whole crew arrives. Jaime runs the project, Zack and Ryan lead the installs, a startup tech such as Payton brings the system up, and Evan and Eli handle the electrical work on the same job. Farwest has been an American Standard dealer since 2002 and carries the Bryant dealer badge today. The finish shows: an 85 year old oil furnace came out from behind a wall and a heat pump went in, and the customer said it was installed like it was made to be there.

For rooms the ducts never reached, or a room that needs extra cooling, a Comfort Advisor designs a ductless mini split around how you actually use that room. Sometimes the honest answer is a duct fix instead. One customer holding two quotes of 16 to 25 thousand dollars for a split on a hot upstairs room was told a hot air return at under 10% of that cost would do it, and it did.

Chapter 03

Ducts, air quality and the years after the install

Annoying hot and cold spots usually trace back to the ducts, not the equipment. Farwest is trained to help identify system inefficiency and build a plan to fix it, whether that is a system repair or a duct modification: a new return, a changed supply run, a rebuilt section of trunk.

Indoor air quality is a major concern for many homeowners, and Farwest has multiple solutions for mold, bacteria, viruses and ventilation problems. Filter choice belongs in that conversation too. A higher MERV rating is not automatically better for every system, so ask your tech before you swap one in.

After the install, a Comfort Club plan keeps the system on a schedule with two seasonal maintenance visits, repair discounts and credit toward a future replacement. Financing covers installs, efficiency upgrades and repairs, and a Comfort Advisor visits first so the plan fits the house and the budget. As the Farwest slogan puts it, we're not comfortable until you are.
